I read an article about a local girl headed to Duke who trains with top pro team in france. We are obviously developing some incredible talent around here, so why is everyone so negative? I'm surprised she is not turning pro instead of heading to college.
She does NOT train with the top pro team in France. Your misunderstanding is exactly why PR and marketing exist because people fall for it. Facts: If you read the words you'll see she is part of a "cultural exchange" program. Cultural exchange means players from France travel here for a week to live with host families, and then later they return the favor and host US players. The families pay for it themselves. They are not selected based on soccer talent. These exchange programs have been going on in high schools for decades and soccer clubs have joined in. It's a great experience for high school age kids to travel abroad and learn from other cultures. But it has nothing to do with being good at soccer.
