A lot of people post on our town Facebook page when they are looking for help (babysitting, moving big items, gardening etc) and teenagers/young adults don’t use FB so it seems to be to be reasonable to post the other end if you are aware of somebody offering a service. Haven’t done it myself but can’t imagine having a problem with this?
They could use it for the purpose of finding work. I'd prefer not to use LinkedIn but I had to. Sooo many posts on my local Facebook "My teenage daughter is looking for babysitting jobs" "My son can mow your lawn" etc. I hire teens who took the time to post that themselves.
I think you should consider that maybe the kids are also spending all their time looking for jobs, posting and sending resume. Hiring market is frozen, especially for newly graduates. Yes kids should do all by themselves, but have some mercy, people graduate now with $$$$ loans and it is hard to be hired. Plus as others have pointed out, tapping the network has always been done. Do you think the country club crowd’s kids are all so smart and find great jobs totally on their own? The poor kids dont just because they are mot that good?
