We did a neuropsych when my child was about 4. Went to a very expensive, highly reputable place. Liked the doctors a lot. But my kid, who was something of a terror, turned on the Eddie Haskell charm and completely outsmarted them - they saw virtually nothing wrong. We walked out the door and he reverted to being a terror and we were out a small fortune for the privilege. We ended up doing some small group therapy and such and years later my kid is perfectly fine - nice kid, very well behaved. But the experience was truly eye opening.
This seems like an example of it working right. Behavior observations are just one small part of the testing. Other tests, around executive function, language processing, etc., are much harder to mask. The fact that they didn't pick anything up and that your kid is perfectly fine suggests that they were correct not to diagnose anything.
