I agree that the leagues through Montgomery County / City of Gaithersburg are good options for beginners. Be ready to make the switch to club as soon as your DD expresses interest though. You need to learn about your club options well in advance if you want a smooth transition. Otherwise, you will be stuck in rec longer than you may want. We made that mistake and my DD is still trying to correct bad habits / instruction. Club might sound intimidating, but the skills in most clubs at that age are comparable to those you see in rec leagues. You should sign up for tryouts in November and explore your options. [/quote]
