[/quote] I am planning a Spain trip and the hotels and restaurants in the big cities are pretty expensive. But I looked at some small cities like Burgos that also have amazing stuff to see and was shocked how cheap the hotels are. So I think you could do a cheap trip focusing on the smaller cities —- places like Avila Burgos, Cuenca, Reinosa, Salamanca, etc. but the biggest expense is usually air so I’d start with where you can fly to cheaply and then go from there.
