You are correct that actuaries and math majors working in finance usually only have bachelors degrees. However, quant and ai jobs (job titles of “Quantitative Researcher” and “Research Scientist @ Tech Company”) are research jobs and thus require PhDs. Totally different from actuaries and hedge fund managers.[/quote]
