Soccer clueless here to ask- why do coaches play guests for entire games on lowest level club 12YO teams when no injuries and 19 players on game days? Is this coaches testing out kids in advance of tryouts to see if kids can play up or being moved down after fall?
At face value, this sounds like a poor decision by the coach. I suspect you are just ranting a little to air some frustration. I know I would be frustrated if this happed to my DD's team. The only reasons I could think of (and they aren't good reasons) is that your coach is frustrated for some reason and felt the need to bing in, presumably, better players to either a.) help the team get some wins, b.) try to show some of your players how to play certain positions during the game or c.) he is willing to bring in new players to the team as tryout season is almost upon us and he is looking at future team fit. But regardless of any actual reason, he has to realize (or maybe not) he most likely just upset the whole team by doing this.
