The link is not coming up. Where exactly will they be located?
Hmmm. I got it to work... Sela Public Charter School Announces Facility Selection New Hebrew language charter school to open in Ward 4 in Fall 2013 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sela Public Charter School (PCS), the District’s new Hebrew language charter school, today announced the selection of a long-term facility at 6015-6017 Chillum Place, NE in the historic Takoma, D.C. neighborhood. “We are thrilled to be locating in Ward 4, a part of the city that truly represents Sela’s commitment to providing D.C. students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to achieve academic excellence,” said Jason Lody, executive director of Sela PCS. “By finding a five-year home, we are one step closer to making Sela’s vision of delivering a rigorous curriculum while fostering an understanding of cultural diversity a reality.” Sela’s Chillum Place campus is a former public charter school building that will be renovated to provide the best education in a welcoming environment that meets the needs of our elementary school students. Sela PCS is planning for multiple playground spaces and lots of natural light infused classrooms when it opens next fall. “I gladly welcome the arrival of Sela Public Charter School to the Young America Works space. My priority is to provide and support quality educational options for our students and families,” said Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser. “I am confident that Sela will be a positive addition to the neighborhood and look forward to their contributions to Ward 4.” Sela PCS is committed to ensuring easy access to students from all parts of the city. The 32,000 square foot facility in Ward 4 is adjacent to the Lamond-Riggs Recreational Center, and is easily accessible from both the Fort Totten (red, green and yellow lines) and Takoma (red line) metro stations via the K2 bus line. Several additional bus routes also serve the neighborhood. “Takoma, D.C is thriving, which means more young families want to live in this historic neighborhood," said Matthew Jemal, Vice President of Douglas Development Corporation, owner of the Sela facility. "We select tenants that will contribute to the value and character of a community, and the Jemal family and Douglas Development are proud to partner with Sela Public Charter School to bring a quality charter language immersion elementary school option to Ward 4 and the District." Sela PCS chose to locate in the Ward 4, Takoma community as it seeks to draw students from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic and racial backgrounds to enrich the school’s commitment to cultural competence and to teach students to be global citizens. The location also provides easy access to public transportation to truly serve students from all wards of D.C. “Sela, founded in part by Takoma, D.C. residents, reached out to the community early in their application process, and we welcome the school to the neighborhood.” said Judi Jones, Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 4B07 Commissioner. “Education and smart business development have been two of my chief concerns as 4B07 ANC, and I look forward to Sela offering the children of Takoma, Lamond, Ward 4, and the District, additional language immersion charter school options for many years to come.” Sela means "rock" or "foundation" in Hebrew, and represents the school’s commitment to providing all D.C. students with a strong foundational educational experience on which they can build their future success. "It isn't always easy for charters to find suitable space,” said Public Charter School Board Executive Director Scott Pearson. “We congratulate Sela on finding a home for their school program." Sela is currently accepting applications for enrollment in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Grade 1 for the 2013-2014 school year.
