Didn’t love Marrakech but loved Fes, Chefchouen, and especially the desert (camel ride and glamping in Sahara). Tourist infrastructure was great, and people were friendly. Had a wonderful time with kids.
I'm interested in seeing both Fes and Chefchaouen. How many days do we need for both? Did you go to Merzouga from Marrakesh or Fes? Bus or Taxi?
We flew into Marrakech nonstop from IAD, hired a driver to take us directly to Chefchaoen, spent one day and one night there (you don’t need more than a day there, though an extra day would be nice bc there is a good day hike from there). Then we stayed in Fes for two nights, then we did a three day package tour from Fes to Marrakech that included the desert, Dades Gorge, and Ait Ben Haddou. We had a private driver/guide for that too. Then a couple of nights in Marrakech before flying home. It was during spring break, so our timing was tight, but if you have more time, I’d spend two nights in Chefchaoen and two nights in the desert, and maybe three nights in Fes, for a more relaxed pace. We are used to active and packed trips, so our pace was good for our family, but others would probably feel like it was too much.
