I have two cousins who are Korean adoptees. They actually found their birth mom about 15 years ago (we are all old) but even though they were not kidnapped from her, it was very clear after they visited her that she had almost no agency in the process. And the adoption agency definitely lied to my aunt and uncle about the circumstances of their adoption. They thought they were doing something especially good because they were adopting siblings and keeping them together. The reality was more complicated.

My cousins grew up in a good and loving home but the circumstances of their adoption left me with really mixed feelings about international adoption and this story is really hitting home in an upsetting way.[/quote]
