Community of Faith food pantry needs volunteers every Tuesday and accepts younger teens. I am not sure if an adult needs to stay with them. Fairfax County Parks holds pretty regular invasive plant removal, I think it is almost weekly during the spring and summer. Call and ask there.
Longtime food pantry volunteer and I often suggest that students get permission to host, organize and plan a food drive at their school. So many more hours involved in publicity, messaging, collecting and then transporting and maybe shelving the donations. Also could ask at school for ongoing, as needed volunteer hours. My DC helped with school tours for new students, another DC did after school program help.
