Women in the U.S. do NOT routinely get tetanus shots after giving birth! That's just plain false. OP, if it's been 7 yrs. Go ahead and get one, and then you'll always remember that you are due to get a tetanus shot on a year ending in "5". I just had my 10-yr tetanus shot 2 weeks ago.[/quote] Many new parents get boosters for whopping cough, which are bundled in the same shot with tetanus. Moms can get them before they get pregnant, or in their third trimester, or after giving birth. So, while PP is wrong that every mother gets it after giving birth, but yes many new mothers get tetanus shots. [/quote]
