I thought this was brilliant! FCPS has thousands of open positions, now, and thousands of laid off Feds are looking for jobs, now. The 2 fields have a lot of overlap in their skills sets and compensation packages. However, any jobs with FCPS require a 100% RTO, which will likely turn off a lot of Feds.
Pretty much all Central Offices in school districts and counties across VA are offering at least 2 day WFH.
Was that meant to be a dig at “lazy Feds”? A lot of the reason people like WFH is that commutes to federal offices can be tough, parking expensive, commutes by public transport uncomfortable and frustrating. Working in person where perhaps one could drive easily in a 20 min distance of their home and park in a normal lot is a lot less stressful. And, teaching, of course is in person but teachers do get summers off. I’m not suggesting teaching is easy at all - I think it’s an incredibly hard job and it pays a lot less than a lot of Feds with professional degrees were making but it may be a good fit for a small group of people.
