I think it is classified as EMERGENCY as a pay code. If you are a permanent 10-month SEIU employee, you are getting paid for these snow days!
Why should MY tax dollars go to pay YOU when you’re not working on a snow day? I have to stay home with my kid on those days and my boss doesn’t pay ME!
I can't work when my employer closes schools - much like I'd imagine you can't work when your employer closes your workplace. For what it's worth, SEIU employees are your school's support staff - the cafeteria workers, building service workers (though many of them are technically 12 month employees and are working to clear snow when schools are closed), paraeducators, media assistants, secretaries, etc.
