A sixth grade kid here would need a fifth grade Singapore book. American students are worse than the kids there.
My kid switched from FCPS advanced math in 4th (theoretically most of the way or maybe even all the way through fifth grade math) to a version of the Singapore curriculum in 5th. Kid was about half a year ahead after being a full year ahead of the Virginia standards. Because there's a big jump in learning the Singapore math way of doing things, kid struggled at first but once that was mastered has been a little bored. I don't think any reasonably bright American student wouldn't be able to easily catch up, especially if they are on even a basic gifted track.
