Has anyone done this? Kids spring break is April 6-13. I think this is a good time of year to go. Any recommendations on places to stay and things to do? Looking at Residence Inn on Charles st because having a kitchenette is nice, but open to other suggestions.
French Quarter Festival https://frenchquarterfest.org/ 10-13 of April
FQF is fun but very crowded. I agree it’s a good time of year to go. It’ll probably be warm enough to swim to try to find a place with a pool. I love wandering the French Quarter and Marigny, but Uptown is also lovely and would be a nice break from the FQF crowds. Also take the streetcar to City Park to see bayous, spanish moss, and a very good art museum. If you have a car, you could drive a couple hours west to cajun country, or a couple hours east to Mississippi beaches. If you go to a plantation, make sure it’s the Whitney. https://whitneyplantation.org/ The MS beaches aren’t exactly nice but there are some interesting little towns (Bay St Louis for example). I’ve been meaning to check out this Gehry-designed museum dedicated to George Ohr in Biloxi: https://georgeohr.org/ You can do a lot over a spring break!
