Any recommendations on places to stay and things to do? Looking at Residence Inn on Charles st because having a kitchenette is nice, but open to other suggestions.

FQF is fun but very crowded. I agree it’s a good time of year to go. It’ll probably be warm enough to swim to try to find a place with a pool.
I love wandering the French Quarter and Marigny, but Uptown is also lovely and would be a nice break from the FQF crowds. Also take the streetcar to City Park to see bayous, spanish moss, and a very good art museum.
If you have a car, you could drive a couple hours west to cajun country, or a couple hours east to Mississippi beaches. If you go to a plantation, make sure it’s the Whitney.

The MS beaches aren’t exactly nice but there are some interesting little towns (Bay St Louis for example). I’ve been meaning to check out this Gehry-designed museum dedicated to George Ohr in Biloxi:

You can do a lot over a spring break!
