FCBYL trusts coaches to do their jobs, whether it's taking in zip kids or the two exceptions, and to play fair. But it seems like FCBYL might be putting too much faith in coaches to follow the rules. We've seen firsthand at the D2 level this year that not all coaches are sticking to them.
DC's team played against a BRYC team last weekend that had at least 6 zipcode exceptions, including one player who doesn't even reside in Fairfax county. (We know the kids and parents from prior teams.) DH mused that this team likely has 4 dad coaches in order to allow for the varied zipcodes.
There's no rule allowing extra zip code exceptions for coaches. BRYC has a ton of zip codes. Way more than any other place. One of the main FCYBL guys is a BRYC guy.
