Different poster from the one you quoted here.
They only notified some people, and others were left hanging and wondering if the fact they weren't notified meant they were rejected.    It was just a few days before Christmas and really just seemed mean.   My kid was a high school senior last year but had not applied to VT, so while it didn't affect my kid, I sure heard a lot about it from others.[/quote]

But I think the point is that with schools like UDel and Pitt, students apply knowing that decisions are released in batches/on a rolling basis.  Va Tech has always had a February EA release date for everyone, so dropping some acceptances in December last year was completely unexpected...I can see how that would make students who still had to wait for the published date nervous and thinking it was unfair.[/quote]
