This kid sounds really troubled. But what is MCPS supposed to do with him? Unless he's sent to a criminal juvenile facility, they are just going to send him to another school, right?
Does this even fall under MCPS? The students involved attend an MCPS school but the incident occurred after school, off school property. Doesn’t this just fall to MCPD and the parents of the injured child? It’s great that the principal sent out a letter informing the community but not sure what more the school can do.
If it involves an MCPS student attacking another MCPS student, then yes, it is a system concern because those two would have to occupy the same space in the school, even though the incident occurred in the community. You all have to stop acting like MCPS should be blind, deaf and dumb to community incidents that impact how kids show up in the school building. The criminal or legal implications of the incident are for MCPD or the courts to deal with, but MCPS must be informed and RESPOND to incident to ensure the learning environment remains safe.
