The Gaithersburg Police Department concluded its investigation yesterday, allowing us to gather all available information about this incident as it pertains to the school and then share this letter with the school community.
Our school is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and caring environment for all members of our community. Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited, and we take any incidents involving violence or hate speech with the utmost seriousness. The combination of violence and hate speech is deeply hurtful and harmful to our entire community, particularly to our African American students and families. We will not tolerate hate, discrimination, or violence in any form at Lakelands Park Middle School.
In response to this incident, the Student Code of Conduct is being rigorously enforced to address the behavior of those involved. I appreciate your cooperation and encourage you to discuss this matter with your child so that we can work together to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment at Lakelands Park Middle School.
