OP, this is not a lesbian or trans issue.  This is a parenting issue, despite your daughter being a grown adult.  Life happens, not everything goes your way and your daughter is looking for some direction from you.  Separate the hate from the politics.  There are hateful people on both sides, regardless of who is President.  It is NOT because of politics.

What should you say to your daughter?  You are young. That is a HUGE asset that we old people don't have.  Live your life!  This too shall pass! Be the change that you want to see!

I agree with the message of hope and action and resilience.

I disagree that this isn't political or an LGBTQI+ issue. The Trump campaign did make trans rights political. They absolutely ran on it. So stop lying. That fact that they campaigned by villainizing humans and denying their rights, and won, makes those humans afraid.[/quote]
