I agree with the message of hope and action and resilience.

I disagree that this isn't political or an LGBTQI+ issue. The Trump campaign did make trans rights political. They absolutely ran on it. So stop lying. That fact that they campaigned by villainizing humans and denying their rights, and won, makes those humans afraid.

My kids have trans and nonbinary friends, and they have been harassed throughout Trump's terms and campaign. They are afraid because they have experienced this. They watched the exit interviews where Trump voters said transgender issues, acknowledging their existence in classrooms, etc. was THE reason they voted for Trump. These people exist, even if they aren't "your conservative friends."

So if you are who you say you are and are supportive, then please step up and fight against the people in your camp who very clearly and loudly do not support the LGBTQIA+ community. Don't just stick your head in the sand and pretend there isn't a risk here.

OP, I am with you. I am worried for our lesbian 20-something daughter and her friends as well. Those saying it won't be too bad are the same misogynist incels who voted for the demented rapist to be the next President. It’s not going to make her feel better to know that other segments of the population will suffer also. She grew up after Obergefell and had a vision of her life as a normal one - being able to be public about having a girlfriend, maybe getting married or having kids one day. Now that seems like it will disappear. This election she has already experienced harassment from men based on her sexuality. It seems like they are emboldened.
