Ultimately, it was the open curriculum-- they wanted to dive right into history, etc. and not spend Freshman year taking required courses not interested in. They also felt the student body, while really bright, did not take themselves too seriously at Brown; the atmosphere felt more fun. Providence was preferable to New Haven. But it was a very hard decision and felt like a loss to give up the prestige of Yale. Very happy at Brown.[/quote]
