So it looks like some local CHRVA Clubs that usually have 18s teams may be canceling them at the last minute Renaissance closed months ago. Legacy & Chesapeake Elite informed players there wouldn't be 18s before tryouts even started. But what is going on with the 18s teams for VAJuniors & Loudoun Elite? These clubs are not registered for CHRVA 18s BID or local tournaments required for BID. Also missing from other tournament registration lists. These clubs market themselves as focused on college recruiting, but where are their 18s teams and actual commitments?
There tends to be a drop off in the number of girls participating at 18s. Many who are not going to play in college (in other words, most club players) decide they'd rather not play during the second half of their senior year. It's not that uncommon for a club to advertise tryouts for 18s, but not have enough players to field a team. If what you're saying is true, it's nonetheless surprising VA Juniors won't have an 18s team because, as you note, they are usually a team with some college commits. If it is true for VAJRs, it must be a recent decision as they have an 18s team registered and accepted for the City of Oaks Challenge and Ohio Valley 18s Qualifier. While most full rosters aren't released yet, I've heard of some moves between clubs for 18s and at least 5 players are moving from VAJRs to Paramount and 1 other player moved from VAJRs to MVSA. It makes sense that Paramount would need to add some players to that team as they finished last season with only 10 girls on their 17s and at least 3 players from last year's Paramount 17s are moving to other clubs, 2 to Metro and 1 to VAE. It seems pretty likely that Metro, VAE, and Paramount will be the top 18s teams in the region this year, but VAJRs not having an 18s would be helpful for some of the other clubs that typically battle with them for bids at regionals, including MDJRs, Liberty Elite, and MVSA.
