My husband and I were considering purchasing a home in Groveton, but this elementary school looks awful from what I’ve read. We do not have children yet but plan to shortly and will likely be in this home for ten years or so. Does anyone have firsthand experience with this school or pyramid? Additionally, aside from private, are there any alternate public schools available? TIA!
If you are zoned to Hybla Valley, that's your ES option. It is one of the poorest (about 79% low-income) and most heavily Hispanic (about 84%) elementary schools in the county. About 2/3 of the kids are in ESOL programs. The administration and staff may do a fantastic job to help the kids there, but the general assumption is that the focus by necessity is primarily on the lower-income, Hispanic population. The White/Asian enrollment combined is only about 6%.
