He was the first black man that stood a chance at winning.  While his campaign itself didn't focus on his race the rest of the country did. In an honest discussion you can't talk about his election without race playing a role.  I have said from his first campaign, that Obama faced a much harder time as our president,  not because of  his race but because those that supported him treated him almost like a god.  He had a long way to fall if he couldn't live up to what people thought of him.  [/quote]
