I am a complete sugar addict. How do I overcome that? I was on semaglutide for a few months (lost all needed weight, maintaining since) but even then that did not change. I would eat less, but still a lot of sugar and was craving it. Same now, I can't seem to kick it. Cherries are working as a good substitute as I love them and they are in season, but what will I do when that's over?
ADHD meds work for this. often its the hyperactive/ impulse / inattentive part that makes one over eat and pine for sugars 24/7. Try a stimulant. especially if you have other adhd symptoms (exec functioning issues, trouble sleeping, anxiety, forget things, lose things, etc. )
This is all about dopamine and D2 receptors in the brain. Sugar, heroine and other addictive substances, unmediated ADHD, all involve problems created in the same part of the brain. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3598008/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11730150/#:~:text=The%20effect%20of%20methylphenidate%20on,to%20methylphenidate%20therapy%20in%20ADHD.
