I am not the original poster, but I am also an external candidate with lots of teaching experience new to the county. I have access to the portal (though I do not, to my knowledge have an open contract), and I see 282 teaching jobs listed as of today 7/12. There are lots of content areas that are currently closed to external candidates, but the only reason I know that is from talking to current teachers & through reading posts on forums like this. I wish this information were better communicated on the Careers page, so that candidates new to the county could be more strategic in their search.
I’m a regular employee, and you are seeing what I’m seeing. There are 279 (now) teaching positions. If you filter on 1.0 there are 157 full time positions posted. The others are partial positions that can be cobbled together in different ways (same content, multiple schools or same school, different content areas). The Google doc is the summary of what there are still open positions for. Everything was frozen for a few weeks in June while they dealt with the reduction in staff budgeting. There won’t be any more internal transfers now, so everything left ther are hunting outside hires.
