There are a lot of strange things to notice if you are in a FB Buy Nothing Group. I am amazed at how often people give away open food, and others jump at it. But today I saw someone giving away a bathing suit. "Only worn a few times." What? Isn't this like offering used underwear?
If it's washed it is fine. People have different levels of concern. Retail stores don't take back used merchandise because of germs, dirt, cooties. They are not set up to clean merchandise and to sell used merchandise. Bathing suits are a little more intimate than some types of clothes. Realistically it is risk from unwashed things plus hygiene taboos that keeps there from being a good market in the US for used underwear, women's bathing suits, etc.
