My group jumped the shark when the needed to sprout or whatever it's called. And instead of splitting the group geographically they did it in a way that half of the "nicer" neighborhood and half the lower SES neighborhood combined. I get that they were trying to be equitable, but geographically it made no sense, and I'm not driving further for used stuff.

I own a washing machine, laundry detergent, and a clothes dryer. And since I’m an adult and not a five year old, I don’t worry about stuff like “hoo ha juices”. In fact, my own hoo ha makes plenty of it’s own juices, so I doubt any residual hoo ha juices from someone else could even make it’s way upstream.



While we’re on the subject, do you realize what gets left all over hotel bedsheets? Which just get washed and then reused? I’ve left plenty of hoo ha juices on hotel bedsheets along with what seem like buckets of hoo him juice too. Those sheets go in a commercial laundry and then go right back on the beds. The beds you sleep on when you travel. Someone like me got her brains F’d out on them and jizzed all over, they got washed, and now you’re using them.

Someone gave away period underwear (used once) on ours.

Another lady recently posted something on her lap which made her look naked waist down.

I love my BN group, great for getting rid of and getting new kid stuff. I personally wouldn’t pick up used underwear or leftover food but have no issues with others doing it. If nothing else, it helps the environment.

We had someone offer a used diva cup a long time ago. No one expressed interest. I notice certain neighbors for their quirks now and try to avoid chosing the ones that annoy me.

OP you are too picky for the group. You've jumped the shark, not the group.

I don't think bathing suits are a sign that Buy Nothing jumped the shark. If one was really my style I would just wash it well. NBD.

If it's washed it is fine. People have different levels of concern.

Retail stores don't take back used merchandise because of germs, dirt, cooties. They are not set up to clean merchandise and to sell used merchandise.
Bathing suits are a little more intimate than some types of clothes. Realistically it is risk from unwashed things plus hygiene taboos that keeps there from being a good market in the US for used underwear, women's bathing suits, etc.

There are a lot of strange things to notice if you are in a FB Buy Nothing Group. I am amazed at how often people give away open food, and others jump at it.

But today I saw someone giving away a bathing suit. "Only worn a few times." What? Isn't this like offering used underwear?
