Gainesville High school in Prince William county gives awards quarterly (called "Cardinal Callouts" ) and at the end of the year (called "Radiance Awards" based on their four pillars of Learning, Leadership, Caring, and Creating.    Cardinal is the school's mascot and a group of cardinals is called a radiance--that's why the end of the year awards are called radiance awards.
By having these categories, there is definitely room for student who do not necessarily fit the "perfect grades every year" mold to be recognized.[/quote]
