Yesterday my kids school held an award ceremony (the umpteenth one this year) and the same 10 kids keep getting awards for their good grades, that's wonderful. I'm sure they will be getting awards and recognition for years to come on their ability to memorize and regurgitate information. I wonder when we will be giving awards for the nice kid, or the kid who came back from hospitalization and worked to get Bs, or just generally other kids. SO glad to be moving out this area where if you don't get middle school straight As, you are basically failing.
I mean good luck, but no school is going to reward the kids fighting for Bs. Especially in Loudoun, the middle school coursework is extremely easy.
I mean, for those in basic classes maybe. I will say that several of my kids friends are in high school level classes and it seems challenging. I'm more interested in when we stopped rewarding improvement and determination. My kid will challenge themselves to try (and sometimes fail) at something vs just taking the easy A
No, honors/advanced classes in LCPS middle school are really easy. My kids were not challenged until AP’s. OP, you are not going to find what you are looking for in another school district.
