Lots of universities are doing this now because 1) they realized they can make more money by encouraging more students to attend during the "off" semester of summer and 2) more kids than ever are applying for admissions and space is limited.

My DS was accepted to FSU with a summer (6/24) start date. He will graduate HS on 6/16 and then start college the next week. FSU is his #1 pick and has been for many years now. He's excited, so I'm trying to be excited for him as well.

Fall '24 semester he has 3 options: 1. attend a local FL community college, 2. take the semester off, 3. possibly attend FSU in the fall if there's room. His next official semester at FSU after completing summer '24 is spring '25.   [/quote]
