So because Catholics have a more central authority, bigotry is allowed? If I said that islam teaches unsavory things x,y,z, that would be deleted. Or that Muhammad was/did x,y,z, also deleted. Seems like a double standard. And I am not even arguing for you to delete the anti Catholicism threads, but to not auto delete anything negative about Islam. If we can criticize Catholicism, we should be allowed to criticize Islam.
Catholic here. It's not because the Roman Catholic Church has centralized authority. It's because the RCC has protected pedophiles (a statement based in fact). IOW, it's not a criticism - it's a fact-based statement. RE your Islam example, I don't know what "unsavory things" you are referring to, but if they are fact-based statements then I'm sure Jeff would agree with you.
Yes, if you say The RCC has protected pedophiles, it is a statement of fact. If you say "Catholics" protected pedophiles, it is ambiguous and could imply that all Catholics protect pedophiles. That I would happily remove. Almost all statements about Islam fall into the second category in which posters say "Islam does such and such" when what is actually true is that "some" Muslims, often just a minority, do whatever it is. Islam doesn't have an institution similar to the Catholic Church.
