IIRC, Cocomelon has focus groups with kids and they play it and then have a parent come in. If the child looks away, the scene is edited. Their goal is to make it so hypnotizing that kids can’t turn it off. Quite disturbing.
Is this true? If so, horrifying. We had a rule in our house that if turning off the TV after a set amount of time resulted in huge drama (a few complaints are okay, a giant tantrum is not), then we have to take a break from TV for a while (a week, a month, whatever felt right). So if I were you OP, I'd be saying no more Cocomelon, and if they freak out, explain that you are doing it for their own good because no television show should cause a crisis to turn off. They are addicted to it and it's messing with their heads!
