OP, I'm actually worried about you, especially after your story about how BIL reacted.  Be careful and get into therapy.  It sounds like you are being manipulated or threatened by somebody (the punk BIL?) given the language about what you didn't have a right to do and paying a price.  You ne3ed somebody who knows what they are doing and can hear all the details to help you work this through and figure out how to deal with the toxic family dynamic that seems to be going on.[/quote]
