I regret starting the thread because I revealed information about others and I didn't have the right to do that. Thank you for understanding and eventually deleting the thread. I hope it dies down soon but I'm surprised that it generated as much interest as it did and that people are continuing to post (which makes me cringe). I feel awful about what I've done but I guess that's the price I'll be paying for airing other people's dirty laundry rather than my own.

OP, I'm actually worried about you, especially after your story about how BIL reacted. Be careful and get into therapy. It sounds like you are being manipulated or threatened by somebody (the punk BIL?) given the language about what you didn't have a right to do and paying a price. You ne3ed somebody who knows what they are doing and can hear all the details to help you work this through and figure out how to deal with the toxic family dynamic that seems to be going on.

Wow, now I want to go read the thread.

Just kidding, it's too long and depressing. But I am curious, did you use names? If not, why the worry?

That's the problem -- I haven't been posted since I got the information I was looking for. The thread has run its course for me but other people keep reading it, posting on it, and keeping it alive. So even though the thread has served my purposes (helped me work through an issue) the thread is ultimately about someone else and that's the information I regret putting out there because I didn't have the right to reveal information about others who did not ask for any advice or disclose their information to the public: I did that all by myself and so I'm trying desperately to fix it.

You keep posting AND you started another thread and continue to post about it, which lead me to look there. I don't think you want it gone at all.

Wow I can't believe everyone is so against deleting the thread. OP is being really honest and asking for a break. Have you never done anything you regret? This isn't the Supreme Court--as Jeff pointed out, there's no archival value to the thread she's talking about. Why would anyone care enough to speak out AGAINST deleting it? Just out of spite???

Jeff -- I respect your decision and it's certainly reasonable. But if you read the thread, a lot of people put a lot of thought and effort into OP's dilemma, and now she comes to say, well, now I have my answer, so I'm finished -- get rid of it. If I had posted a lot of advice and gotten myself all involved in that story, I would feel used by her request to delete the thing. I think the discussion now belongs, fairly, to the community of DCUM.

Just a final thought.

I think this is an unfair request. OP engaged in a LONG discussion with other posters (not me, but I followed it) -- it's not like she posted and the thing took on a life of its own. I say, let it stand.

I started a thread on 8/20/2012 19:01 in the Relationship Non-Explicit that I would like deleted. I posted information about other people (not just about myself) and regret what I have done. I've also used the report feature on my first post and on another poster's to make this request. Please delete it. I'll be forever grateful. Thank you.
