I also have the Skip Hop bag that you are probably talking about (the one with the long strap that you can wear cross body).  I didn't like it in the first 6-8 months because I felt like it was hard to get to the items in the bottom of the bag.  We started using a regular backpack (LL Bean), but now that my son is almost 1 we carry around a lot less junk and started using the Skip Hop again.

I now use the Kate Spade diaper bag as a work bag...
