OP here and appreciating the insights. The appeal is that I can use it as a regular bag too. Baby is only 5 mo and we will try for 1-2 more. I'm leaning towards it and can leave the skip hop for dh and nanny. Hmmm. $169 seems like a good price if I'll use it for the next while. I hate backpacks, but see why those make sense. I get so hot. Mmmmmm. What to do. Not sure if sale is one day or two.

Ooh, and KS is having their surprise sale. I say go for it.

I have that bag (in a different color) and I love it. It holds lots of stuff, and I used it as a carry-on when traveling too. The pockets are great, well placed, and there are enough of them that I can find stuff in a hurry. I think it's really well made. I was also desperately trying to find baby bags that didn't assume that I too was a baby. Enough with the florals and patterns already.

In two to three years you will never need a diaper bag again. Don't do it.

I actually have that diaper bag in a different pattern. I personally really like Kate Spade products. I think they are very high quality and I like the look.

However, I feel like that diaper bag was a waste of money. My husband bought it as a gift, and I feel really bad about it...but for the size of the bag, I don't think it is practical and doesn't fit many items. It also doesn't fit at all underneath our stroller (City Mini) and when carrying a baby and getting one in and out of a car (or whatever you are going to be doing) a shoulder bag just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I also have the Skip Hop bag that you are probably talking about (the one with the long strap that you can wear cross body). I didn't like it in the first 6-8 months because I felt like it was hard to get to the items in the bottom of the bag. We started using a regular backpack (LL Bean), but now that my son is almost 1 we carry around a lot less junk and started using the Skip Hop again.

I now use the Kate Spade diaper bag as a work bag...

OP, you'll do better to go to a Kate Spade outlet in Leesburg or Queenstown. Their prices are usually fantastic.

I agree with the PP that when you kid is mobile, you will want a backpack...plus DH can also carry it!
This seems like a pain to take to the park, etc.

I carried a diaper bag til my kid was 3, and only stopped carrying it then because I bought a cool Sherpani backpack instead, wanting my hands free. Even after the diapers are gone, you still need extra clothes, food, etc. If a bag makes you happy, then do it - you'll get plenty of use out of it. I love my backpack, though - it's a huge improvement over the cross body I had before because I can pick up my toddler, shop, do whatever I need to. I get compliments on it, too.

I don't mind the price but feel Kate Spade's a bit tired these days. What are some other cute diaper bags in this price range? I'm looking as well.

OP here, I seem to need all the pockets of a diaper bag so I'm never rooting through a big mess of items, but if you have a link to a tote bag with lots of compartments that would work.
