About 15% of the 7th graders take Algebra 1 H in 7th grade so I would say about 15% of the 6th graders score in the 91st percentile. The number might be a bit lower then that because some schools make an exception for kids if they just miss the bench mark for the SOL or the IAAT but I doubt that is a lerge percentage of kids. Most kids don’t take the IAAT, so I don’t think you can extrapolate that 15% “pass” if 15% of FCPS 7th grades are taking Algebra I. That would suggest a significantly higher pass rate, unless I’m being obtuse or misunderstanding the data you’re sharing. [/quote]

I was making a simple estimation based on the number of kids taking Algebra 1. Another poster had some different data which shows a higher percentage in the 91st percentile range. My simple estimation did not take into account kids who meet both criteria and choose not to take Algebra 1 in 7th.  And you are correct, I did not take into consideration that most of the kids don't take the IAAT so the pass rate should not be the same as the number of kids in 7th grade Algebra. Clearly it was a flawed estimate.
