I wouldn't count on Timber Lane/Longfellow/McLean being around forever. Timber Lane is a split feeder between Jackson/Falls Church HS and Longellow/McLean. The Longfellow/McLean portion is an island on the border map that borders on neighborhoods that are districted for Kilmer/Marshall and Jackson/FC and Falls Chuch City. The borders have stood for so long because the apartment and townhouse neighborhoods next to the cemetery add diversity to the McLean schools...but Falls Church is very under capacity and is projected to continue on that path.
There's been no discussion of moving that part of the Timber Lane district out of Longfellow/McLean and FCPS did redistrict some neighborhoods within the past few years from Annandale HS to Falls Church HS. FCPS is now projecting that Falls Church HS will gain an additional 275-300 students over the next five years, so it's not clear why FCPS would tinker with the boundaries in a way that would have a big impact on the diversity at McLean.
