Difference between the following classes? What Math class to take concurrently or pre-reqs prior to taking any of the classes? Honors Physics Astronomy Physics AP Physics 1 AP Physics A or is it AP Physics C? IB Physics Content overlaps? The AP being college level is probably faster paced, does it cover any topics in depth? Any other Physics class I didn't list?
From least to most math, target population 11th graders, lowest math class as co-req: Astronomy with Physics - Algebra 2 Honors Physics - Precalc AP Physics 1 - Honors Precalculus (but skip if student will get to BC Calc) IB Physics 1 - AB Calc AP Physics C - BC Calc Keep in mind, it is not mainly that the physics course uses that particular level of math. It’s just that the math level is a pretty good indication of student readiness for abstract reasoning and more complex problem solving.
