She will be top 30-40% at one of the bigger schools.  But then I wonder if the Special Education placement would be a ding?

I know we’re years away from college admissions but if I’m going to keep her at RICA I need to speak up at our next IEP meeting in Feb.  If I think about where she would be successful, my first choice would be UMD.  She’s a math/science kid and keeping her close to home would be good.  There’s also UMBC.

I don’t have a child at RICA. I have a mainstreamed, special needs child. I would take college acceptances (how admissions compare a child at Wooten v RICA) out of the equation. You should be considering what will a) keep her healthy and b) prepare her for college/real life. So if she needs to be at RICA for her mental health, that should be her priority, regardless of what colleges think. If she is healthy enough to go to Wooten, she should since it will offer her an opportunity for independence and will more accurately simulate a college experience.[/quote]
