I grew up close to Santa Clara. My friends who went there liked it. I could be totally wrong, but I've never gotten the sense that there's a ton of school spirit or that it's an exceptionally tight community. The immediate surrounding area is boring suburban sprawl, but there is a lot going on in the greater area. Great job placement in the Bay Area. Great soccer and occasionally decent basketball teams.
I am a Scripps alum and I can't recommend it enough. Great school, great environment, beautiful campus, tons of opportunities for all types of people. It's a gem!
Scripps seems awesome! My kid is applying there RD, and I've been pretty impressed. She's only lukewarm on Smith (another great school) because of the no-guys thing. But, because of the consortium, Scripps seems to offer the best of all worlds. The campus and food is supposed to be top-notch too.
My kid applied to only one women’s college, and it was Scripps, precisely bc of the “best of all worlds” thing. Loved the campus.
