What are you making now and what is "more"?
I make 100k working at a credit union. I'd like to make 150k+
If you become an IT program manager and get a PMP certification you can make $150 with a contractor.
Contractors are basically self employed. You have to pay self employment taxes (around 10 to 12% of your income); you get no disability or unemployment insurance; you have to pay for your own healthcare. Pros: your "employer" (you) can contribute money into your 401k, so you can get double dipping - your contribution + your "employer" contribution. All that can add up to about 50% of your income (includes income tax, not just self employment income tax). -long time self employed independent contractor.
