I also loved my Dyson V8 and used it several times a week but ended up replacing the battery under warranty just shy of two years. It worked for two more years before it started falling apart. I'm sure my teenagers had something to do with this so I didn't hesitate in purchasing a new one. I now have the Gen5 Outsize which is their latest model. You no longer need to hold the trigger down to keep the machine on and the fluffy roller head has a laser beam on it. It definitely shows a lot of dust and hair but honestly, I could do without that feature. I don't need to know how gross my house gets in between vacuumings. I do like the larger bin and the wider floor head though.
I’m pretty devoted to Dyson but the laser beam is so stupid it has me questioning everything. Areas I normally don't take the time to fully get behind actually get vacuumed now that I can see the filth. When I'm in a rush I just use the regular floor head so I don't get distracted by the hidden dust and dog hair.
