We were near Tulum in June.

We did not rent a car.

I have done that previously and it's doable, but somewhat stressful. Didn't want to deal with that with kids.

We arranged airport transfer and hired drivers for day trips through Locogringo, and got taxis for shorter excursions (used rental concierge to arrange taxis).

It was pricier than other options, but totally reliable, safe and pleasant. Worked out great for a trip with family.[/quote]
