I’m not sure you can pay cash and upgrade to the club room with points, as you asked in your post (disclosure I’m a Marriott person and know less about Hyatt). My understanding is that the club rooms are capped so it doesn’t get too crowded, so if there are not club rooms available on points, you may not be able to pay cash and upgrade with points. Again, Hyatt is not my first or even second program of choice, but I’m sure you can call and they’ll tell you either way.

WAIT: I just remembered. Did you search for a room for 2adults/2kids? They don’t allow you to book a club level room on points for four. They cap it at 2adults/1 kid bc they cannot guarantee you two beds in a club room (that wing evidently mostly has king beds). If you can book for 2 adults/1 kid, do that and then call and hope to be put into a room with two beds. Otherwise you can pay for a rollaway for the second kid. I had that problem too, so I called and that’s what they told me. I booked 2/1, then called a few days before check in and requested two beds. [/quote]
