You may want to explore the magnets. They have some high-level math classes. Also, some schools offer dual credit classes where kids can take college classes.
Dual enrollment at Montgomery College is available to all students in MCPS. OP - what students choose depends on their interests after high school. For STEM interested students most will do 9th HAlg2 —> 10th HPrecalc —> 11th AP BC Calc —> 12th Multi-Variable Calculus Others may do 11th AP AB Calc —> AP BC Calc Students not interested in STEM may choose 11th Calc with Applications and 12th AP Statistics. My recommendation for all students who have the ability to get to and take AP BC Calculus is to do so. If they are STEM bound they need it and should repeat the last level of math in their first year at college. If they are not STEM bound, a 4 or 5 on AP BC Calculus test satisfies public university math distribution requirements, which means the student doesn’t have to take math in college.
